BIOGRAPHY
William Bissinger married Elizabeth Stritzky in 1893, and the first record
is the 1900 census, when he and Elizabeth were enumerated as "George" and
"Lizzie" Bissinger. They were living with Elizabeth's relation, by marriage,
Joseph Frey, and he must have responded to the census taker as the Bissinger
names are not consistent with later censuses. At this time William and
Elizabeth had two children, Johanna, b. 1895 and Frank [Frederick]. The
census further states that Elizabeth had born three children, and three were
living. Who the third child was is not known, but it may be the following
child who was born in the Bronx in March 1900 and died four months later in
July.
Willy T. Bissinger 11 Mar 1900 922 Births Reported in 1900. Borough of the
Bronx.
Wm. P. Bissinger 4 m 25 Jul 1900 2631 Deaths reported in metropolitan New
York City
In 1910 and 1920 William Bissinger was a superintendent for an apartment
house. He passed away after the 1920 census was taken. His widow
Elizabeth married second Emil Roth
in 1929 in Queens, and it's highly probable that William and Elizabeth had
moved there in the 1920s and that William Bissinger died in Queens.
William and Elizabeth's son Frederick Bissinger was born 24 Jun
1898. He
was unemployed when he reported to the draft board on Sept. 12, 1918.
In 1920 Frederick was an automobile salesman, and in 1930 he was an insurance
agent. If Frederick did marry it was after 1930, as in this census he was
living with his step-father and mother, Emil Roth and
Elizabeth [Stritzky] Roth.
Frederick Bissinger died in Jamaica, Queens Co., NY in January 1973.
