BIOGRAPHY
Margaret Eschenfelder was often called Maggie.  Like her older sisters she was employed in the gold leaf business.  Her husband died within a few years after their marriage and Maggie was left with an infant daughter Mamie to raise.  She lived with her mother and brother-in-law Anthony Sommer in 1880, and probably remained with her widowed mother for a number of years.  In 1900 Margaret was living in the same apartment building in Manhattan on 13th Street with her mother and sister Mary/Marie, and was still employed as a "gold cutter."  She later moved in with her widowed daughter Mamie Thompson where we find her in 1910 and 1920.  Like her mother, Maggie never remarried after the death of her husband.
