BIOGRAPHY
John Alfred Cook, Jr. married Emily Louise Vogel, daughter of Henry C. Vogel, on December 6, 1897. The wedding was quite grand, as reported in the Brooklyn Daily Eagle. "On Monday evening a pretty wedding took place at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Henry C. Vogel, 353 Fourteenth street, when their daughter, Miss Emily L. Vogel, was married to John A. Cook, Jr. The Rev. E. A. Noble performed the ceremony. Miss Florence H. Cook, sister of the groom, was bridesmaid and two little cousins of the bride acted as maids of honor. William H. Vogel, brother of the bride, was best man. The bride wore a white silk gown trimmed with lace and carried a bouquet of white roses and wore orange blossoms in her hair. The bridesmaid was gowned in pink silk trimmed with lace and carried a bouquet of pink roses. The maids of honor wore white china silk and carried bouquets of pinks. The house was decorated with flowers."

John and Emily had three children:, Emily F. Cook, b. Dec 1898, John A. Cook 3rd, b. 1901, and Walter E. Cook, b. about 1904.

In 1900 John Cook, Jr. and Emily were living with her parents Henry and Emily Vogel in Brooklyn. In 1915, when John registered for the draft, he was a proprietor of a bath house in Brooklyn, a career he pursued throughout his life. John A. Cook, Jr. his wife Emily, and mother-in-law Emily Vogel, settled in Miami Florida, before 1920, when John was working as a proprietor of a "Bathing House." In 1930 he was" Partner," in a "Bathing Casino" with his son John A. Cook 3rd and Joseph Russell West. His son Walter, in this year, was a "proprietor" of a "Bathing Casino," married to Mary M. Cook with a daughter Mary F. Cook. It would appear that, like his father, John Cook, Jr. and his sons were successful businessmen.

John Cook died before Feb. 11, 1940, he is mentioned in the probate of his mother's will as "deceased son."
