BIOGRAPHY
We have very little information on Herman Baumgartel. His marriage
certificate gives his occupation as machinist, and the names of his
parents as "Christian Baumgartner" and "Maria Baumgartner." It is
doubtful his mother's maiden name was also Baumgartel, so he probably
arrived in America alone, as a young adult.
Herman and Helen were married just eight years when Herman passed away in
April 1879.
