BIOGRAPHY
George Wylie was born in Scotland of Scottish parents. The year of his
immigration is unclear as he states in 1910 he arrived in 1844, and in 1900
that he came in 1866, which may be the year of his naturalization. No early census records have been found for his
family. George Wylie married Charlotte Elizabeth Fenner before their
daughter Elizabeth was born in 1866. They resided in Manhattan, but by
1900 were living with their son-in-law John D. Muller, Jr. in Brooklyn.
George was an "engineer.". The last record for
George is the 1920 census, and he probably died shortly after that time at
about age 80+.
George and Charlotte had four children, but only three survived, daughters
Elizabeth and Jesse and their son William. Jesse must have married,
and has not been found. Son William Andrew Wylie was born 11 Nov 1873,
and married about 1898, age about 33, a woman named Kathryn Annette.
He was a book keeper and they lived in Brooklyn, but had no children.
William registered for the draft in 1918, but was probably not required to
serve as he was 44 years of age and is found in the 1920 census.
