The following real estate
transactions were made in the Bronx.
1901, May 16: The first record shows a lease to
Edward Frey at 689
and 700 East 166th street for $600.
1902: April 19: Edward Frey purchases a lot on Webster Avenue at the
corner of 168th St. which he sells two years later
1904, January 8, Edward Frey incurred fire damage of $1,500 to his
property at 698 Es. 166th Street
1904, November 16, Edward Frey sells property on Webster Avenue at
the corner of 168th Street to the East River Savings Institution, with a 4
1/2 % mortgage for 5 years.
1907, June 4, Edward Frey received a mortgage for property at 1225
Webster Avenue
1908, September 30, Edward Frey received a mortgage for property on
the White Plains Road north of Morris Park Avenue
1909, June 26: Edward Frey purchased a lot on the Pelham Rod at the
corner of Mulford Avenue He later sold this land in 1913.
1913, October 2: Ernest Ahlberg sold a lot on 4th St, west of Avenue
D to Edward Frey. The record implies this is in Unionport, the Bronx,
but these streets must have since been renamed at a later date. On the same
date Edward Frey sold a nearby lot to Keilbert Construction Company,
which later sued Edward, but lost.
1913, October 3: Edward Frey transferred the property on Mulford
Avenue and Pelham Road to Thomas J. McCormack for $100.
This is the last record we have for Edward Frey until 1931 when he
transferred property to his daughters Anna Ahlberg and
Katherine
Schuster. Anna must have also inherited property from her father in the
Unionport area of the Bronx as the following records suggest..
1916, Dec. 1: Executors of Frank Gass sold to
Ernest Ahlberg property
on Avenue C at 6th and Castle Hill Avenue for $6,500, with a 3 year mortgage
at 5 ½ % for $2,500.
1918, July 24: Charles Schuster and another, of 2334 Webster Avenue,
purchase lot on Story Avenue west of Castle Hill
1925, September 24: Anna Ahlberg sold “the block front on the east
side of Castle Hill Avenue, from Eastern Boulevard to Houghton Avenue, being
162.26 by 100 feet, with brick and frame buildings and stores” for $45,000.
1931, November 20: Edward Frey transferred to his daughters
Anna Ahlberg and
Katherine
Schuster property at 2225 Eastern Boulevard
in the Bronx.
1931, November 25, Katherine
Schuster transferred her share of the
property at 2225 Eastern Boulevard to her sister
Anna Ahlberg
1939, January 24: Katherine
Schuster transferred her property at 2229
Eastern Boulevard to her sister Anna Ahlberg
