BIOGRAPHY
Edward Pierson was born in all probability in Shelburne, Vermont, and from
the 1850 census we can assume he was the son of Uzal Pierson, born
7 Nov 1791 in New Jersey. Uzal Pierson is assumed to be the son of
Uzal Pierson, born 4 May 1763, and Dorcas Frisbie, born 10
June 1767, and the grandson of Moses Pierson who came from New
Jersey to Shelburne in 1769. Moses Pierson and his sons Uzal and Ziba were
prominent figures in the founding of Shelburne.
In 1850, Edward Pierson was a farmer in Shelburne. He then moved to Syracuse, New York, where he was a merchant
in 1860, with an appreciable estate: $8500 in real estate and $1000 in
personal estate. He then moved to Clarkstown, Rockland County, New
York and became a farmer with a large estate of $15,000. He was
still living here in 1880.
