BIOGRAPHY
Albert Kean was born in 1895 in California. He did not marry until he was
about thirty years old as the second husband of
Hildur Gutowski, nee Beck. He must have
been a good man for he adopted Hildur's two children by her first husband
Rudolph Gutowski. We haven't found Albert in the 1910 census, but
when he registered for the draft in 1918 he was working for the U.S.
Government as "leading man chauffer." This sounds like a responsible
position. By 1920 he was living with his widowed mother
Margaret Kean and was a crane operator in
the Navy Yard, and in 1930 was the proprietor of a taxi cab company in
Bremerton. It's not known if Albert and Hildur had any children of their
own, although Hildur was still young enough to bear children.
